Gear Review: Mindshift Gear Ultralight Camera Cover 10
Mindshift Gear’s Ultralight Camera Cover 10 is a lightweight, water-resistant camera cover for mirrorless to full-framed DSLR cameras. Mindshift Gear specializes in packs and cases for taking cameras on the go hiking and camping.
I always used a neoprene camera cover for my DSLR when camping, hiking, trail running, or going anywhere for that matter. When I got too ambitious out in the rain and ruined my first DLSR with it, I decided it was time for a change.
When I got my next DSLR, I went looking for a case that I could use while hiking, camping, trail running, etc. I found Mindshift Gear on a Google search and have really enjoyed using it on the trails around Juneau, Alaska.
Pros:
- Waist strap excellent for keeping DSLR secure while hiking or running
- Water-resistant material
- Not too bulky
Cons:
- Not fully waterproof
- Could use more padding for bump/abrasion resistance.
- Doesn’t work well with camera sling attached to tripod mount
For the active photographer – the trail runner, hiker, camper – this is a great case for keeping your DSLR snug against your body while on the move. For the average joe looking for a case to keep their camera, there are plenty of other holsters that will better protect your camera from shock/drops or water. Mindshift Gear bridges the gap between active portability and overall protection.

Summary Awesome for bringing your DSLR hiking/running. Solid protection from rain and minor bumps, and well designed. Not THE most protective/water resistant case you'll find, but the combination of ease of access and protection is well done.
